2010 Volleyball

I can not wait for the season to begin.  Don't get me wrong, the summer has been great, but I am looking forward to a great year of volleyball.  Just a few reminders before our first practice.

1.  Be sure to get your physical BEFORE the first practice or else I can not let you practice with us.  8th graders, this includes you this year, as the rules changed and now every athlete must get a physical every year.    You can turn in your physical forms to the office or bring them to practice the first day.

2.  Be sure you are doing your 50/50 (50 push-ups & 50 sit-ups) each day.  It will be obvious who has not and that will bring us as a team down.  Don't mean to scare you, I just want you to be successful.  BTW...it is not too late to start!

I look forward to seeing you on the 17th of August at 4:00 in the high school gym!  Be sure to bring your water bottles and knee pads.

Coach Eckart

P.S.  Leave me a comment or text me at 436-6209 to tell me how excited you are for the season!

Working Hard

We are starting to see the rewards of our hard work. This past weekend saw many improvements in our 7th grade team. Serving was a strength for us. I realize other teams that are serving underhand did beat us every now and again, but it will pay off for our program in the long run. {If you doubt, visit with Tessa Beck! (I talked with her this weekend and she seeing the benefits of our junior high program's decisions) }

One area we still need to keep improving on we agreed on was our COMMUNICATION. We will get better, but you need to make a conscience effort to start the improvement with yourself.

All in all, keep working hard! I see good things to come for this young group.

7th Grade Tournament in Thompson

The bus will be leaving the High School at 8:00 sharp, so please be at least 5-10 minutes early to give us a little wiggle room. First round starts at nine and we play every other round of seven. This will be a great learning experience as we will get plenty of playing time to work through game.

Rescheduled- -Scheduled- - Changed

The Norman County West (NCW) game scheduled for this Thursday has been rescheduled for next Monday, the 21st at 4:15 at home. Also October 6th has a game with Park Christian of Moorhead scheduled at 4:15 there. Lastly, the game with Central Valley will be a 7th grade game only, no 8th graders.

HOORAY!!!

What a great weekend of volleyball! The 8th graders played some tough teams this weekend and played to win. Taking 2nd in our pool, only 2 points off from 1st place, was a nice reward for the past years work. Let's not be satisfied with 2nd place, we have better things to come.

Special thanks to the crowd for their added encouragements. What a fun atmosphere to play in!
*Thanks Marla, for the pictures.

Important Update

We have had some changes to our schedule, which seems to happen every year. The match with Norman County West for next Thursday the 17th has been canceled. Also the match with Central Valley with only be with the 7th graders. There won't be a match for the 8th graders. I am in the process of looking for another game to fill these voids.

On a different note...congrats to all of our players last night on a victory both in score by the 7th graders and in effort by the 8th. Way to work, things are starting to click.

Reminder the bus for the 8th grade tournament will leave at 8:00 from the High School Saturday for Northwood.

Busy Week!

Today we have button pictures right after school. Let's be organized and ready to go so we can start practice and go over what will be expected of us at our first match.

Tomorrow, the 1st of September, we will be dismissed at 2:50 from our 8th hour classes. Please be ready to board the bus no later than 3:00. Just a reminder all homework must be taken care of before we leave as you are responsible for any missed classes. 7th graders will play first followed by the 8th graders. I would like it if you are riding home with your parents to stay for the 8th grade match as you will learn a lot from watching. If you are riding home with your parents, I ask that you give me a note so I can keep track of all of you, as we would hate to leave someone behind.

We have had a great pre-season! Let's now take it to the next level and see what the season has in store for us!

Wow!!!!

I have been so impressed with my girls! You are working hard and have a great attitude. Let's keep that going for the whole season. Remember to do your morning push-ups and sit-ups. Twenty-five of each will make us the strong team we need to be to get that ball over the net. Keep working on your form and staying low. I know there is a lot of new material this year, but it will pay off for us in the long run. There are many things we have learned that you can practice out side of the gym on your own time. It will make you that much better as we have a lot of girls out this year.

I can't wait to see what the next week will hold for us,

Mrs. Eckart

The season is quickly approaching and I can't wait to welcome you all to practice. We will be starting on the 17th of August at 3:30 in the High School gym. Please remember to have your physical forms up to date or you won't be able to practice. You will also need your knee pads and your own water bottle. See you soon!

Excitement is in the Air!

Well, I don't know about you...but I am super excited to start a new year of Volleyball. My summer is flying by, but I still have been able to slow things down with some time at the lake, a mini vacation, and get a little running in now and again. I hope you have been able to do the same. The season will quickly be upon us, so now is the time to start your daily push-ups and sit-ups. We will be doing plenty of them come August 17th! Well, back to enjoying the last few days of summer vacation. (P.S. Here is a pic of my summer trip to Wyoming for a wedding. We stopped here in Spearfish to hike the Canyon. I will be anxious to hear how your summer is going)

Hillsboro Junior High Tournament on October 11th

All players will be needed for the 8th grade tournament in October. We will all need to bring something for the tournament whether it be bars or buns, and the 7th graders will be needed for line judging and helping with the concessions. It will be an exciting day of volleyball for the junior high!

7th Graders is Larimore

The bus will leave from the High School at 7:30 Saturday morning to reach Larimore in time for our first game at 9:00. There are four rounds again this tournament and we play the 1st, 3rd, and 4th ones. Let's have a great tournament!

Awesome Night!

Everyone played well against Thompson...7th graders had their best score yet, and 8th graders were ready to play! I can't wait to see what the rest of the season holds for us.

1st 7th Grade Tournament!

Volleyball is a sport of ups and downs and we had our share this weekend, but I feel we had more ups than downs. We had many great serves this weekend and a ton of awesome volleys! It was fun to watch us when we were ready to play. We need to continue to work off of those great moments and let the others pass us by and not bog down our spirit with negative feelings. We are all going to make mistakes as that is part of the process of learning. We just need to learn from our errors so as not to repeat them as frequently. I feel we are getting to that point. We ARE improving everyday!

Have a great rest of your weekend and remember to do those 25 sit-ups and push-ups every day.

I am proud of each and every one of you!
